A picture is worth a thousand words – how images can help language

Språkbussen

I really love when I get to work with clients that are truly dedicated to their product and making sure that what they do will make the life of their customers easier and at the same time making the world a little bit better. Språkbussen is such a client, and I had the great pleasure of working close with the founder, Annika Melin, making a seies of illustrations for their school materials.

The illustrations are an aid for puplis with special needs to talk about events. Language, reading faces and how to interact with other people can be very challenging for people with special needs and intellectually challenged children. These illustrations might seem random, but all the events in the picture is thouroghly thought of. Annika would ask me that she wanted to see facial reactions to events, so that children can talk about feelings, how to see if someone is angry or happy. She wanted events so that an educator can discuss with the pupils whar might trigger reactions, to count and spot different details and describe different events in the picture.
